Mitchell Paramedic Students Put Their Skills to the Test During First-Ever Night Simulations
On July 23, 2026, the Mitchell Community College Paramedic Program hosted its first Night Simulations, an immersive training experience designed to challenge students in realistic emergency response scenarios.
Held near the conclusion of the program, simulations provide students with the opportunity to bring together everything they’ve learned throughout their paramedic education. From patient assessment and critical decision-making to communication and teamwork, students were tested in high-pressure situations that closely mirrored the unpredictability and intensity of real-world EMS calls.
As the culminating event of the program, the simulations challenged participants to think on their feet, adapt quickly, and deliver patient care with confidence and professionalism. Working in teams, students responded to a variety of complex emergency scenarios, demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and leadership they have developed over months of training.
For the Class of 2026, which will graduate on August 13, these simulations served as a powerful final step in their journey toward becoming paramedics. The experience not only reinforced clinical competencies but also provided a glimpse into the realities of the profession they are about to enter.
The success of the program’s first Night Simulations event was made possible through the support and collaboration of several community partners. Mitchell Community College extends its sincere appreciation to Mooresville Fire-Rescue, Iredell County EMS, Iredell County Rescue Squad, and the dedicated Mitchell faculty and staff who contributed their time, expertise, and resources to create an authentic and impactful learning experience.
