Iredell County offers a diverse range of educational support, providing three main avenues for English as a second language learners. By mastering English, learners can broaden their career choices, propelling them toward a future filled with options.

Multilingual Support at Mooresville Graded School District

Mooresville Graded School District’s Language Instruction Educational Program (LIEP) is designed to support the needs of K-12 Multilingual learner (ML) students for whom English is not their first/home language. The goal is for these students to acquire the knowledge and language skills necessary to succeed in school and pursue their goals as part of the 21st-century global workforce.

Multilingual Support at Iredell-Statesville Schools

Iredell-Statesville Schools proudly provide services for English learners in 35 schools in our district. We offer English language, cultural and academic support in a learning environment that nurtures and encourages them to be their best. The ESL Department encourages student pride in cultural heritage and provides the cognitive and affective support to help them become contributing members of society.

Iredell Statesville Schools also offers a Dual Language Immersion Program allowing students from two different language backgrounds to receive academic instruction in English and Spanish. The goal is to develop literacy in both languages.

Multilingual Support at Mitchell Community College

At Mitchell Community College, learn to read, write and speak English. Supplement your lessons with time in the computer lab where you have access to the Burlington English language software. Individual help and tutoring are available. Learn workplace skills, understand community interaction and study civics. Prepare for college and a career.
