Lowe's Invests $200,000 In Third Creek Elementary School To Fulfill Bucket List Renovation
Grant will bring ‘big dream’ recognition to life, helping to strengthen community resources and provide a safe place for children to play.
Statesville, North Carolina-based Third Creek Elementary School has proudly been selected to receive a $200,000 grant as part of Lowe’s Community Impact program, helping to check off a bucket list renovation project that will strengthen the Statesville community. Through the program, Lowe’s will invest $10 million in Lowe’s Community Impact Grants and an additional $10 million to support more than 2,000 associate-led impact projects that will improve community spaces nationwide.
As one of 100 community projects in 2026 that make up this year’s grant recipients, the Lowe’s Community Impact Grant will benefit Third Creek Elementary School, Home of the Crawdads, by replacing the school’s original playground structure with a new one. This will provide students with safer equipment and dedicated space to simply be a kid.
Principal Carla Moorefield explained the grant was an incredible investment and surprise.
“This incredible investment in our students and school community will create a safe, engaging, and exclusive space where our Crawdads can play, grow, and make memories for years to come,” Moorefield explained.
She continued by adding her appreciation, saying, “We are so thankful for this opportunity and for everyone who helped make it possible.”
Superintendent Dr. Jeff James recognized the community advocacy and Lowe’s generosity in making this happen.
“We are so grateful to Statesville Mayor Doug Hendrix for nominating Third Creek Elementary School for this grant,” stated Dr. James. “The impact that Lowe’s continues to make in our community amplifies their commitment to our hometown.”
The investment fulfills Lowe’s Community Impact Program’s five-year, $100 million commitment to revitalizing and restoring hometowns. Projects were selected from more than 5,000 nominations through Lowe’s Community Bucket List. Each project will address local needs, from expanding food pantries to restoring shelters and safe housing resources to reviving outdoor spaces and renovating facilities for first responders and veterans.
