Join The Race To The HOTTEST Career Event In Iredell County!
The 5th Annual Careers on Wheels is a key component of our efforts to expose students to career pathways and employment opportunities with business and industries in Iredell County and the Charlotte Region.Businesses from a variety of industries will provide a “station” that highlights their company and careers in a fun and engaging atmosphere so that students can see, touch, and experience local business and industry. We also encourage you to distribute a “freebie” for students to take away with your logo for continued career exploration. Please be as creative and engaging as possible for sixth-grade students.
Why should you participate?
Over the past four years we have hosted 2,000 6th graders each year at our Career on Wheels event. Children in 6th – 8th grade are naturally curious about the world around them making this the optimum time to demonstrate the many types of career options available and encourage them to think about their individual skills and interests. Afterwards, both Iredell-Statesville Schools and Mooresville Graded School District have a variety of other touch points at the different grade milestones to help to prepare students for their class selection in high school. Our first students are now high school freshmen and sophomores and are enrolling in classes that we hope will lead to a credential or certificate, and will support them in choosing a career pathway – enrollment, employment, enlistment, or entrepreneurship.
Details for the day:
- The event will take place at the Iredell County Fairgrounds in Troutman
- There will be no cost for students or the business/industry to participate
- Business set-up will be from 7:00-9:00AM
- Students will be on a “scavenger hunt” during two sessions, 9:15-11:15AM and 12:15-2:15PM
- Lunch and breakfast for Vendors provided
- Lunch Break from 11:15AM – 12:15PM
- CTE will provide a bag to collect freebies for all students
