Career Expo Highlights Job Openings at North Carolina State Agencies and Universities
Recruiters to connect with job seekers at the free event on September 9 in RTP
The second annual in-person State of North Carolina Career Expo will welcome job seekers interested in careers in state government from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, September 9 at the Sheraton Imperial, RTP located at 4700 Emperor Blvd, Durham.
Individuals with all education and experience levels are invited to register for this event. For more information and to register for the event, job seekers can visit the State of North Carolina Career Expo 2024 page. While same-day registration is available, participants are encouraged to register in advance. There is no cost to participate in this event.
“The State of North Carolina is looking for talented people who are interested in becoming a part of our state government workforce. With over 15,000 vacant positions, we have a wide variety of positions ranging from accounting to zookeeping, so you are sure to find a challenging job that positively impacts your life and the lives of others.” said State Human Resources Director Barbara Gibson. “I encourage anyone wanting to work for an employer that values its employees, to join us at the State of North Carolina Career Expo to learn about job opportunities available at our agencies and universities.”
Participants can learn more about the mission, values and available positions at individual state agencies and universities by visiting their individual booths. Recruiters will be available to make one-on-one connections with potential candidates.
Once again, NCWorks will be at the event with their mobile unit where individuals can sign up for job alerts and create a North Carolina state government application profile. NCWorks Veterans Services and Dress for Success Triangle NC will provide additional resources to job seekers. NC DHHS Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities will be available to provide services for individuals who might need accommodations.
The career event will also feature informational sessions from agencies who will share their mission and jobs opportunities as well as sessions dedicated to providing tips for applying to state jobs. The Higher Education to NC Government career initiative, Ed2NC, will also return with a booth to discuss entry-level job opportunities for recent graduates. They and others interested in entry-level positions may visit the Ed2NC Entry-Level Positions Data Bank to learn about state government jobs that align with their major and degree There will also be a booth that will have information on the State of North Carolina Internship Program as well as the various internships offered by the agencies.
