Embrace new opportunities with the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) for economically disadvantaged individuals aged 55 and older. Funded through Title V of the Older Americans Act, SCSEP places participants in fulfilling part-time community service programs, empowering them to transition into unsubsidized employment. For over 45 years, SCSEP has transformed the lives of older Americans by offering entry- and mid-level positions within their local communities, providing valuable work experience and skill utilization. Join the AARP Foundation SCSEP today and embark on a journey of growth and fulfillment in the workforce.

How it Works

AARP Foundation’s SCSEP offers a dual approach, combining community service and work-based training for older job seekers. Participants engage in fulfilling activities, dedicating an average of 20 hours per week to their roles while receiving compensation at the highest of federal, state, or local minimum wage, provided directly by SCSEP.

Placed within diverse non-profit and public facilities such as daycare centers, senior centers, schools, and hospitals, participants gain invaluable on-the-job training experience. This hands-on exposure equips them with practical skills and expertise, positioning them as strong candidates for employment opportunities beyond the program. AARP Foundation’s SCSEP serves as a transformative bridge, enabling older job seekers to transition successfully into sustainable careers, fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment in their journey toward professional success.
